FILM PROJECTS

Dr. Zhivago
Carlo Ponti's original intention is to adapt Pasternak's novel as a vehicle for Sophia. Director David Lean convinces him that Sophia is not right for the role of Lara, saying she is too tall, but the real reason is that he cannot accept Sophia as a virgin for the early parts of the film. Julie Christie is cast for the role.
