Sophia Settles in Paris - November
Once the shooting of La pepe del gangster is completed, Sophia packs up, leaves her beautiful Villa behind and moves with her two sons to her sumptuous Paris apartment on Avenue George V, bought ten years earlier, as she fears the kidnapping of her two sons.

Ciao Vittorio - November 13
Vittorio De Sica dies at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine from lung surgery the same day his new film Il viaggio opens in Paris theaters. Sophia, Carlo and Mastroianni attend the funerals in Rome on November 16. Once seated inside the church, Sophia becomes a captive target for the paparazzi. De Sica leaves his second wife, the Spanish actress Maria Mercader, whom he had married in 1968 after adopting French citizenship, just like Carlo and Sophia, to divorce his first wife. He also leaves two sons, Christian, a pop singer, and Manuel, a music composer who wrote the score for many films.

Dalida di Lazzaro and Carlo Ponti
Ponti signs young Italian actress Dalida di Lazzaro to a five-year contract after she appears in Flesh for Frankenstein in 1973, a movie he produced. While filming Il bestione (1974) she mentions in a press interview that she and Ponti are in love. She has a reduced role in La Pupa del gangster.

Burton and Loren's Liaison
At the same time rumours have Di Lazzaro hooked on Carlo, Sophia spends a lot of time with Richard Burton - they do two films together - and gossips say she is getting even with Carlo. Sophia denies that all those petty talks have anything to do with her decision to move alone to Paris with her two sons while Carlo is staying by himself at their villa in Marino.
