Nine
Musical comedy produced by the Weinstein Company to be shot in New York City under the direction of Rob Marshall with co-star Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz and Mario Cotillard. Shooting is postponed until the second half of 2008 due to writers strike in the USA.

Oromare's Inauguration - April 4
Sophia is the godmother at the inauguration of Oromare center, a major silversmith market located in Marcianise, north of her hometown Naples. Sophia is presented with a shell cameo made of ebony and diamonds.

Pope's Birthday Concert - April 16
Accompanied by Massimo Leonardelli and her sister Maria, Sophia, dressed in black, attends
a performance by the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra in Paul VI Hall in honor of Pope Benedict XVI who celebrates his 80th birthday.

Cinecitta's 70th Anniversary Party - May 5
Sophia attends the party celebrating the 70th anniversary of most famous Italian studios, Cinecittà, in Rome.

MSC Orchestra
- May 14

Sophia is in Civitavecchia, the port of Rome, to launch the MSC Orchestra cruise ship along with Italian maestro Ennio Morricone. This is the fourth MSC Cruises vessel that Sophia has christened, giving the line a total of eight ships, with four more on order through 2010.

Sydney Italian Festival 2007
- June 1-3

Sophia flies to Sydney for the first time in 20 years on May 31 in order to launch the Italian Australian Film Festival. She gives a press conference on June 1st and attends the next day the world premiere of festival's opening film Anita (A Life for Garibaldi) at the Hoyts Entertainment Quarter. On the 3rd, she is guest of honor at black-tie gala called The Serata con Sophia Ball at Miramare Gardens. Andrew Hansen from Australian TV show Chaser's War on Everything is at the press conference with his Mr. Ten Question segment. Sophia is confused and upset as to what is going on until the comedian is asked to leave. "Oh, my God, what a terrible person he was. Silly, silly, silly!" were Sophia's comments.

Napoli prima e dopo - July 27
Accompanied by her sister Maria, Sophia is godmother of the 25th edition of the Napoli prima o dopo, a show dedicated to Neapolitan songs, hosted by Caterina Balivo and presented at the Grand' Hotel La Sonrisa di Sant'Antonio d'Abate, south of Naples.

Festival del Sole
- August 7

Sophia acts a godmother at the opening of the Festival del Sole in Piazza Signorelli, Cartona, during a gala concert in honor of her late husband, Carlo Ponti. The open-air symphonic concert pays tribute to Ponti's life and career with their son Carlo Ponti, Jr. conducting the Russian National Orchestra.

Edoardo's Wedding - August 11
Sophia attends the wedding of her second son, Edoardo, with American actress Sasha Alexander at the Russian Orthodox Church in Geneva.

Rome Film Festival
- October 18

Clad in a black Armani dress, Sophia attends the opening ceremony concert and tribute to her career at Teatro Sistina where she receives the IMAIE Acting Award. Presentation of a documentary called Sophia: Ieri, oggi, domani on the 19.

Campidoglio Award - October 20
  Sophia receives a special Acting Award prize from the Province of Rome as she is described as "not only an icon of cinema, but a very synonym of Italy, of that Italy made up of elegance, passion, genius, humanity and beauty." As she is reading her speech she bursts out in tears.

El Cid - Del hombre a la leyenda - November 2
Sophia is in Burgos, Spain, to attend the commemorative exhibit celebrating the eight centenary of El Cid manuscript.

SEMINCI Lifetime Award - November 3
 Mayor of Valladolid and President of SEMINCI (The Interational Film Film Week), Javier León de la Riva presents Sophia with a Golden Plaque at the closing ceremonies held at the Teatro Calderón.

Bambi Award - November 29
Sophia receives an award for Lifetime Achievement at the 59th Bambi ceremony held at the Düsseldorfer Stadthalle (municipal hall) in Düsseldorf, Germany. "The ninth Bambi for Sophia is an homage to a strong woman who has achieved the extraordinary, a womn of irresistible charisma, outstanding talent and impeccable character," according to the Bambi jury.

  Italian producer and Sophia's husband for 50 years dies in Geneva at 94 following pulmonary complications. After the religious ceremony at San Martin church he is buried during a private ceremony in Magenta, his home town on the 12. Sophia,, her two sons, Giorgio Armani, Sabrina Ferilli are among the few guests.

Bacon's Painting Hits Sale Record - February 8
Christie's auction house sells famous Francis Bacon painting named Study for a Portrait II belonging to Sophia for 14.2 million pounds (US$27.5 million), making it the most expensive work of art ever.

Sophia's Second Grandchild - April 3
Sophia is grandmother for the second time with the birth of Vittorio, named after De Sica, who was born in Geneva. It is Carlo and Andrea Meszaros' first child.

Striptease for S.S.C. Napoli - May 14
While in Rome for the christening of the MSC Orchestra Sophia shows her enthusiasm for her favorite soccer team and is quoted as saying, "I hope Napoli win these last few games. You watch, if we go up I will do a striptease. The fans have a total passion, the city deserves promotion." She retracts a few weeks later saying it was a joke.

73rd Birthday - September 20
Suprise party for Sophia's birthday at famous Roman restaurant Antica Pesa with her sister Maria and a few other guests, including Matteo Marzotto and Massimo Leonardelli.

The Rome Film Festival presents a tribute to Sophia at La Casa del Cinema with the presentation of 13 movies.
