Horst Tappe




      

Horst Tappe is a famous German portrait photographer who was born in Westphalia in 1937. He is well known for his portraits of Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Alfred Hitchcock. His closest relationship friend was with Russian writer Vladimir Nabokov, introduced to him by actor Peter Ustinov, who allowed photographing him over a 15-year period. Mr. Tappe died on August 21, 2005 in Vevey from cancer at age 67.




The pictures of Sophia Loren by Horst Tappe were taken in 1965 on the set of  “Lady L”,
directed by the photographer’s friend Peter Ustinov.

 

The Horst Tappe Foundation was created in 2005 in Switzerland and it owns the rights for the pictures shown on this page.
